Last weekend I took a little road trip to Hutchinson to speak at a lovely shop called Cottonwood Quilts. The staff, Marie, Linda and Vicki were so helpful, everything was so clean and well set up! Bobette, the shop owner (pictured with me) was so prepared, my visit was even announced on the radio!

We had a nice crowd of quilters, some brought items they made for a show and share. This quilt had a chenille technique that was fun to see.

I always enjoy these visits to shops, but visiting Cottonwood Quilts was particularly wonderful. I loved getting to walk along Main Street and look at other shops and their windows, grab a cup of coffee and stroll. I love the small downtown atmosphere there. What a wonderful group of ladies and fun way to pass the weekend.
Cottonwood Quilts has a nice website and even features a virtual tour of the shop at

It snowed last weekend, yesterday it rained, then snowed, then melted. But today there is promise of sunshine. I have Spring Fever! While waiting for Spring make up it’s mind, I have been working on a free downloadable project for my website. I used fabrics from my Little Man & Me Too line. Shop owners can download this project to create a quick model for their shop. The pattern should be up in the next week or so.

Lovelies from my shelves.

Happy spring sewing!

Little Miss Ava continues to grow and change and my daughter’s Angie, (Ava’s mom), and Emilee have done a fabulous job of documenting it all! I love this photo of Angie kissing her sweet baby.

Emilee takes such wonderful pictures and we have all had such fun getting together for our photo shoots. Angie sends me emails with U-tube videos of Ava doing her latest and greatest, so I’m learning all kinds of things about the computer.

This is Emilee with Ava. One thing we have always tried to do as a family has been to have a Family Sunday. Sometimes we were better at making it happen than others, but what having this wonderful grandbaby has done is bring us all together very regularly so we can all get our baby hugs and kisses and squeezes in every week. I cook like a maniac and drag out anything I think the kids should be eating.

Last week while the girls (Bev. & Steph) were here working, Jarred, my oldest and Angie & Ava dropped by for lunch. It was so nice to see them and so unexpected. I couldn’t believe how long it had been since I had a photo of Jared, so while he was here he posed for the camera. What a handsome bunch if I do say so myself. (Not at all biased).

I have always wanted to make a lone star quilt, but never sat down to undertake one. I signed up for a class and using the sewing guide, had one put together relatively quickly. I just got this quilt back from the ladies that quilted it for me. I love the feathering stitches and flowers they used for the quilting. Kristie Patton and Beverly McCalla, members of my quilt guild did such a wonderful job.

I don’t have the binding finished yet, but wanted to show off the fun colors and beautiful quilting done by Kristie and Bev.
