Mrs. Judith Oswald, an amazing teacher of advanced sewing class at Maize High School invited me to speak with her students this week. I was so impressed with the projects the students were working on. Some are making quilts, others are making garments.. dresses for prom!
Mrs. Judith is fantastic with instructing the students who are learning machine quilting, hand stitching and are quite talented. I enjoyed speaking with Christina and Emerald after the presentation, they are both lovely girls.
This lovely young lady is Brook. I am so happy to see the students expressing themselves, learning the joy of sewing and was so happy to be a part of that. Thank you, Mrs. Judith for the opportunity!

Working is so much easier when you enjoy your space and fill it with personal touches. For me, it all has to be pretty, to match, to speak to my heart a little. Every piece has to function, but it has to function prettily!

These are a few pieces on my shelves in the work room and though they can be a distraction at times, they are inspiration foremost.

Piles, stacks, jars and trays.. just make them lovely, and walk away.

A few years ago, I picked up these wonderful antique lawn chairs and have longed to put them on my porch.
On a “retail therapy” trip to the fabric store, I found this beautiful floral fabric. It was a match made in heaven.
I managed to sew one of them myself and wrestled with the sewing machine to finish it. But last week when Steph and Bev were here for work, we snuck in some play.
What we don’t do to get the look we want, right ladies?
Nothing a sewing machine and some fabric can’t fix. Happy sewing!

It looks like I’m getting ready for a nap, and I did consider it..
But I couldn’t wait to show everyone the Sleepy Bag, pillow and fabric tote that first time quilter, Sarah Kingery made while visiting us.
Sarah chose four fabrics and used the design guide provided in the pattern to help her decide how to arrange her fabrics.

I also got to use some exciting color combinations when making a sample for display at the Picket Fence Quilt Shop in Wichita, KS.

Brown was a great accent for both of these examples.

I couldn’t resist covering a notebook to match! This project idea is in my project book, Sweetest Gifts.
